DESCRIPTION:
APW - Ball Hamilton, Official RR Standard, Grade 999 first run with very rare dial, 17J, 18S, nickel OF recase with train on rear, white enamel SS dial with magenta colored markings, pierced Ball style hour and minute hands, SW-LS, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#13012. The dial of this example is most unusual as its magenta colored markings are the first we have encountered among a Ball watch. The very early movement is also notable being just the 12th made by serial number from the first run of Grade 999 production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, winds stiffly, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scattered fine and micro-fine scratches, center wheel jewel setting is held by blued screws that are mismatched to other setting screws, oxide to regulator assembly; dial flawless apart from small perimeter wear under bezel and minuscule edge nick under bezel near 6, excellent plum colored Ball style hour and minute hands, seconds-hand is a blue replacement; case shows light wear, dings to band near 2 and 8, shallow compression of center rear, reduced engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
